Hello everyone,

I am wondering if anyone would have some info that could help me before spending more cash.

I have a 2002 RR Vogue TD6 and I have just paid £1848 on a gearbox rebuild. Since getting it back yesterday, I was driving home and the engine just cut out whilst driving and the Fuel Inject. System error message displayed. I managed to get onto a side road and then tried to fire her up but to no avail. Just to let you know as well, I had about 20 miles left of fuel in the tank so I was running very low on fuel. After about 10-15 minutes, she fired up and I drove a mile to the fuel station and topped her up, turned on the ignition, fired up straight away and the message had switch off! Lovely! Then, on the way in to work this morning, again, the fuel warning light came on and with 50 miles in the tank and 10 mins later she cut out whilst driving again and the exact same scenario occured. Waited for 10 mins and she fired up again, off to the fuel station, fill up, message gone, car runs fine.

This didnt used to happen prior to having my gearbox rebuilt and no doubt it's probably not related but why is this happening? I used to be able to run the fuel down to at least 20 miles or so on the range meter with no problems. Is it just that they dont like going low on fuel or do I have a problem?

Sorry for the long thread but any info or things to check myself would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

If its starting when it cools down slightly could be the crank sensor on its way out.
Dont know where it is on the r/r but most engines its flywheel end and as you have just had gearbox work done maybe theres a link?
