My Td5 auto has started to leak a little oil, only seems to happen when engine running as no leak when it has been left parked for a while. It seems to be coming from a little unit above the gearbox (think thats what its is anyway - The silver large unit that larger at one end then gets narrower towards the rear or the car.) This little unit has a few pipes running into it, and looks like an electrical sensor. I think its engine oil, as its very black, but could be gearbox i spose. Not sure how long its been leaking for, but oil level in engine hasnt chnaged over ten months since it was serviced.

Problem is i have to travel 1000 miles soon back to the UK and am obviously a bit worried as to if it may break down.

Also noticed at the bottom of the thing that i think is the gearbox, i can see a threaded hole, with nothing in it. You can see inside it. Is that correct or do i have a problem. Just for record, car runs fine, gear changes are as smooth as normal etc etc

Please Help

This is a fuel pressure regulator valve ,fuel leak not oil ,common problem on td5 engines .

I thought that from the first pick but from the other pics i'm unsure. is it bolted to the side of the cylinder head (above starter motor)?

Or could it be the gearbox valve block?

This is exactly fuel pressure regulator valve and is bolted to the right hand side of the cylinder head above starter motor .The fuel leak straight on the starter motor and bell housing .
Don't warry about the threaded hole ,it is for lockin pen to set up engine in TDC .

so whats the best course of action? Yeah found it in haynes, says its a fuel connector block. Is it defo fuel? Cause its very thick and black to be fuel.

Im guesing the o rings have gone as it says they nust be replaced when its removed, so perished over time is spose.

Would it be a big job to get it fixed. Problem is i cant speak very good french, so trying to explain would be a real pain and they may rip me off as im english. Would it be a bad idea to drive it back to the UK and get my landy man to do it for me?

Worst case, can anyone give me a rough UK cost, just so i know?

Thanks for info
