Hi All
Just to introduce myself as new to Landyzone but not to LRs I live in the Highlands and yesterday bought a nice 2002 Discovery with 38K on the clock. Previously owned various 90's and 110's and an old Discovery.
New one drives fine but found a couple of problems, one front roof vent leaks. ( just read the excellent link on accessing the roof seal but wondered if there was a short cut to un-block the drains --if they are blocked -with air pressure?
Also drivers mirror glass is very loose - still motors to required position though. Can this be fixed without purchasing whole unit? Lastly the multi-cd changer box is missing. Is this box a standard item on these changers please?
Thanks EW

Hi Eric,

Welcome to the Loonyzone.

38K......Blimey that is low.......what sort of condition is the rear chassis in? Make sure you have the EKA code.....

Not sure what you mean by front roof vent............??
For sunroofs , then to truly fix the problem it is best to take the roof lining out, fully remove the roof rails, sunroofs and reseal them where they touch the outside of the body. Plus check the top of windscreen and alpine windows for water ingress. By taking thme out, you can clean them and blow out the drain pipes, I also make sure that water flows into and out of them correctly.

As you say , there are a number of how to's on the interweb. for sunroof leaks etc.

Cheers

Hahaha.

I did wonder.....about the terminology.........I was picturing all sorts of things.

EKA code is the Emergency Key Access code, for when the fob or the fob receiver fails. Allows you to access and start the car if you cannot do it the normal way.

Should be on the security card. Normally 4 numbers ie. 12 / 05 / 09 / 14, although sometimes it is written in Hexadecimal code. So maximum number you will see is 15 or the letter F.

If you have not got it on your card , or you cannot find it, then you can get it from your local LR dealer with proof of ownership. Via the internet for £20 ( although if a previous owner has changed it then these may be wrong ) Best way is to get someone with diagnostics to read it and let you know what it is.

Cheers

Thanks for the information. Haven't received any of the LR paperwork {other than log book, mot &two keys } as was bereavement sale.
I'll look into EKA code
Thanks again.

OK,

Try to get it sooner rather than later, if you have a fault on your fob / receiver it can be a nightmare to get around and fix it.

Then if you need to download the owners manual / workshop manual.

Go here and download :

Rave01.iso file onto a computer.

Cheers

Welcome aboard :) Got any Piccies??

That's certainly a nice low mileage - worth checking the rear chassis... they can rot quite badly :(

Happy New Year
Usual signs of surface rust on chassis. I intend having it wax oiled in near future after proper examination on ramps to see how bad or good it is!

That is nice and clean,

If the chassis has been looked after like the rest of it, then it is a good one..........:D

Cheers
+1:)
Have a search about waxoyl on here ( and elsewhere if you CBA (!)). There are better products out there IMHO, for broadly similar money up front, which will last longer, and thus be better value in the longer term.... which, given the condition that D2 is in, is well worth a bit of time. Remember that the chassis will rot from the inside out, and thus treating the inside is far more important than the exterior surfaces.... Plenty of threads on here about flushing the "mud" etc., out, treating rust and cavity wax injection....:)

Thanks for info. I'll do a bit of research. I've looked at the company that's advertised at the bottom of the Landyzone page, waxoyltreatment, but they're 2.5 hours South of me, so a bit far!
Thanks again, EW
