i have been looking for a couple of days now without success for the answer to my predicament and from the look of it i have found the write place judging by the vast amount of knowledge that people have on here. i used to own a 2006 supercharged vogue until the begining of the year when it was stolen from outside my house, the police did very little, however the insurance loss adjusters were ferocious, during the course of there investigation they discovered that somebody had paid cash , locally not at a main dealers, allegedely in my car ,for a duplicate set of keys the day before mine was stolen!they all but accused me of being that person which is nonsense as i was somewhere else at the time. they spoke to land rover who said these vehicles were impossible to steal ! i am at a loss, i know very little about cars especially about the technicalities of the sofisticated entry systems. is it possible for somebody to get a set of duplicate keys programmed without the car there ? are these cars immposible to steal ? from what i have read they seem to be one of the most sought after cars to steal. as it stands today i am awaiting a decision from my insurers as to wether or not they will pay out. any information or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

phone a dealers and ask what is required to get second set of keys? That'll tell you how hard it is to nick em.Most cars need the keys to go these days.

inicent until proved guilty. tell em to prove it was you or cough up - if they dont (or say they might not) tell em you will meet them in court.

acturlee a solicitors letter to em might do the trick.

Sounds to me that they had their eye on your car and had a set of plates made up, and another vehicle with your plates on, in order to get a copy of your keys!!!

Get statements from credible witnesses who can state under oath that you were not buying keys for your car that day, as you were elsewhere.

Best of luck!!

Wouldnt they need the v5 rather than the plates tho?

yes, they 'should' - however if 'the vehicle' is sitting outside a small biz, are they going to question further??

I've had replacement plates made up by my local motor factors with no documentation, although to be fair the guys in there know me as I'm a regular customer, but not everyone adheres to the rules do they?
