Why dont you weld a plate on one where it bursts through, mine aint burst yet but when it does thats what it's getting.

Dont suppose anybody knows what mileage they go??

Ye want one like this nick...

200K plus if the one i did years ago is anything to judge by

mines done 118k and now fooked up

the brother in law had his in 2 years about 25k an it went pop yesterday:doh:
so now instead of having one gearbox to pull out we got two of the bloody things to do in a week end.

i thought he was taking the pi#s when he phoned yesterday an said he'd broke down, an thought it was the clutch fork:eek:

surely there's more chance of winning the fookin lottery than both our disco's failing of the same thing with in 4 days of each other:rolleyes:

Whatever way you go, slobber a good dollop of ROCOL MT-LM Assembly Paste into the socket hole. It is 60% Molybdenum disulphide. The arm will last forever.

fooking heck Nick the only thing that's in focus is yer wall tiles and the pattern on yer kitchen roll

and before oddy point sit out, the date

I was going to say I had changed 2 over the past few years - both had failed around the 100K mark . I just put in a new standard fork as I felt that another 100K would be quite acceptable -and I wasn't sure what effect welding would have on the new fork .
They are both still going fine after about 3 years - and then I see where one has failed after only 25K !!!!!!!!!
Some post I read advised checking/changing the pivot post if the rounded end wasn't in perfect condition . Mine were fine so I left them .
I think that maybe the type of use could decide the length they last - for example a Disco that does a lot of 'town' driving could have low miles but a lot of gear changing whereas a Disco that is used a lot on the open road could have a lot higher mileage but far fewer gear changes .
