Right, I am about to set about fixing my heater in my 1988 110 2.5D N.A. I have bought a new heater control switch as the one on mine was broke. I can see where the two cables attach from the right hand side controls but not yet looked where the fan motor control cable goes to. When i looked at mine heater I can only see two operating cables on the fan box (top and side) where does the cable from the electric fan switch go to.

Regards

Evening Buster. Thanks for that it has shown me where to check the resistor as I did not know it was there. The cable I am refering to is a proper control cable (an inner & outer cable) from the electric heater switch on the left side of the dashboard which goes into the engine bay somewhere. I know I can follow it to see where it goes but thta will be the weekend weather permitting.

Ahhh, ah gets ye now mate;)
The cable ye're on about ( which is fur the speed settin' lever) goes to the side of the heater box....

When ye remove the lever / switch panel on the right side of dash ye'll see two cables, the one that controls the temp goes to the top of heater box...

and the other one goes down to the lower dash. Ye should see the cable beside the right hand hole...

Went and had a look just to make sure and noticed there was only two cables comin' through the bulkhead;)

thanks for replies.

I'm certain that the previous owner has connected the control cables to the wrong places. I think he's put the hot water shut off vavle cable onto the flap controls. Were onto it now.

thanks

There isn't a hot water shut-off valve, just a flap that diverts the incoming air either around or through the matrix and another which shuts off the heater-box output.

Hi Litch.

I haven't looked properly yet but will on Saturday, but what you have is 3 control cables that come from the dash board heater controls. Two are on the right hand side dash board controls and the third is on the hear fan switch on the left side of the dashboard. I did look at the heater breifly last weekend but could only see two cables attached.

I am going to do it tomorrow unless it's raining
