Hi
I've got a 98 4.0 se. The heater works but it only seems to blow on the windscreen no matter which switch I press. Its also got the book symbol on the display. I also have an annoying leak from the top of the drivers a pillar. When its raining ( which is almost every day!) There's a constant drip which lands on my right leg! I've checked the sunroof drains and they're fine. Could it be the screen? Thanks for any help

Anyone?? I don't have any diagnostic equipment yet so don't want to spend a fortune on blend motors if its not them at fault. Could they cause this problem??? Thanks

Sounds like you have at least two issues.Firstly the distribution flap isnt doing its job - the cause of the book symbol.Second is the water ingress, best to get that sorted or you will soon have no end of electrical issues.Have a look around where the pollen filters fit, often a build up of leaf mould here will allow rain to run down into the blower motor fans.
A quick diagnostic session on Testbook or similar is the only true way to find out whats going on with your Hevac, the Valeo ecu is very fussy, but usually accurate.Any faults need to be proved as being repaired via live data displays,or the book symbol will soon come back.My trick of the self tapping screw is usually enough to free off the distribution flap enough for the flap to move.More info on Rangerovers.net on how to do that.

Thanks for the reply. Where are the pollen filters located? The leak is from the top of the drivers a pillar where it joins the headlining. Depending on how the cars parked it either drips onto my right leg or from the centre courtesy light

Sorry, wine attack ! Most likely screen.Remove any trim you can near the suspect area and get a hosepipe on it - best way to prove the source...
