Hi Guys,

As a relative newby to the world of P38's having only purchased one in November i'm still getting used their quirks etc..

Having sorted most of the initial problems with it I am now left with the one which has the heater being completely controlable on the drivers side but only blowing hot on the passenger side no matter what the temp says on the panel, from reading various posts on here I have a feeling the blend motor is the part responsible for this, is this the most likely answer? also the heater control panel is showing a book icon, is this related to this as well?

if it is a blend motor I think it'll be well outside my mechanicing skills to tackle myself so can anyone recommend somewhere this can be sorted in the Manchester / Leeds area?

Any help is greatly appriciated

Thanks

Peter

The constant hot air will most likely be a blend motor. For sure this will cause the book symbol to be displayed however it might not be the only thing. It is worth getting the faults read by someone with a Faultmate or Nanocom that way you know exactly what you are dealing with.

Thanks for the advice, guess I best ask if anyone out there around the Manchester / Leeds area has such a thing and would like to earn some beer tokens trying to find the fault!

Thanks

Peter

I have the same problem and have done some research on the forums. I ended up buying a Hawkeye from John Craddock. This confirmed that one of my blend motors had failed.
The forums say that as it is such pig of a job to do, replacing all three blend motors at the same time is the way to go.
I have some on order and will be doing the heater matrix radiator at the same time, I figured that if I have half the dashboard out anyway, I might as well change that before it breaks anyway.
I'm just on the other side of the Pennines near Haslingden, if you want to hook up your P38 to my Hawkeye, that is fine, just get in touch.
I think that the job will take me a whole weekend as I'm doing the water pump and radiator at the same time.
I'll photograph the job and post on the forum for everyone to see.....
