The disco has been losing approx 1L of water during my 7mile trip to and from work for the last week or so now, looking under the bonnet once engine heated up I couldn't find where it was going.. until today when I noticed a very soggy drivers footwell.
Searching the forum I can't find a how-to for this can anyone help? Is there a way of sorting this without pulling the dash?
Thanks

Dash comes out very easily

ya just have to make sure you find all the screws most of which are hidden behind cupholder coin tray & ashtrays as well as behind switches on dash pod. and underneath Dash in footwells.,

Is this ok as a short term fix? Took it for a spin to get the engine heated up and it didn't explode.. which is a bonus! Coping without a heater is do-able for me if it gives me a month or so to get all the other stuff I have on at the moment sorted..

Oh, and I pulled the carpets man I forgot how much water that foam holds!! Was relieved to see all my welding is still rust free :)

Ok, but in principle is it ok to bypass the heater matrix this way, if the pipe is not restrictive is there any possibility the engine could over heat or am I safe? Thanks

I'm looking at ripping the dash out next week once I've picked up a replacement matrix any other advice to make the job as easy as possible would be muchos appreciated. ...

Take your time,

take 'photos of what goes where - treat in it 'layers'

Mark wiring plugs with masking tape and take photos or the wire routings ...

Make lots of your favourite beverage ...

I can do a 200TDi dash out and back in under 2hrs ...

I've less practise for the 300 ....

Found this, last post on it may interest you :

Thanks, sounds like it s not too big a job after all - cant be as bad as the time I had to replace the auto box on my own!!!

I've gig a couple of spare matrix here and an autobox to change. If you change my gearbox I will change your matrix. ;) ;) ;)

Haha no chance don't fancy doing that again!!

Any idea what part number I need to fix the leaking matrix on a 95 auto? is it a case of changing a pipe/the matrix itself or the whole unit?
Ive seen this in ebay not sure whether its the right one or I should look at buying new
