Heater Matrix - Airconditioning

I have blown through the Air-conditioning tubes ander the car and they are clear and water exits those without any problem, but I have wet carpets inside more so on the R/H side facing forwards.

I live in Spain so my Disco is L/H drive, the other day going round a R/About I felt a drop of hot fluid drop into my socks/foot could this be a problem with the heater matrix ?

If it is does it normally need a new matrix or could it just be perished tubing or "O" rings from the heater matrix ?

I appreciate that I will have to strip out some of the dashboard, but how much ?

All ideas/solutions gratefully received.

It can be the heater matrix and/or the 'O' ring.....but have to take them out to inspect before knowing for sure which is at fault......

Unfortunately.....the whole dash + center console has to come out to get to the heater matrix........

pm bmp42....he is in Portugal...and may have a few spares around....

I'm in Spain too and have a similar problem - previous owner dealt with it though - by chopping off the pipes and bypassing the matrix so it's a job I'll maybe have to do before winter - it does actually get cold here! Where in Spain are you? I'll be interested to know how you get on.

Oh B----r the whole dashboard out, not some as I thought, but thanks for the info.

Sp33der, I will let you know, I'm in Ibiza the land of 4x4 so it would seem, never seen so many in such a small place.

Ah, not so far away really - we can see you on a clear day from here in Javea!

Apparently you've got to discharge the aircon too to remove the heater matrix. Whole thing sounds like a bit of a bugger! Not looking forward to it at all really. If I strike it rich I'll bung it in a garage! Or wear a coat....

thought initially was the 'O' ring.....took me 1/2 a day to have the dash, steering wheel, center console etc etc out ...turned out its the matrix itself having a puncture....spend the rest of day to put everything back...and by pass heater....then bought a heater matrix........2 weeks later......same procedures again......neighbours thought I was nuts ........glad it's alright now....!!!

yes...there's aircond on my disco, but am not using it as not needed in UK weather.

Thanks for that mate, cheered me up no end.......

Mine has to come out with the temps here,just on my patio it is 38c, so starting on Monday will see how we get on and will report back.
