following me 200 tdi upgrade we also fixed the leaking heater matrix, the heater used to blow nice and hot with the old td enjin, with the new enjin in the heater is warmish but only blows warm out the passenger side vents and blows cold/luke warm out of the drivers side, have i missed summit or fooked summit up?..any ideas?

dunt forget that the 200 is a very cool running engine, it'll take an age to get upto a resonable temp - cover the front grill it helps

Slide a sheet of tin foil in front of the rad. I use catering grade as its a bit thicker than the normal domestic stuff but you could always double up the normal foil.
If it gets too hot then just raise it an inch at a time until you get the desired temp.
I dont need to do it on my TD5 but my old SIIa never got hot in the winter unless the rad was covered.

To be honest, if the thermostat is working and the temp gauge is reading normal you've no need to mess about blanking the radiator off.
First of all try swaping the heater pipes round, if that don't work try back filling the cooling system via one of the heater pipes, just stick a hose pipe in one heater pipe and make sure the rad cap is off and the heater set to hot.
Good luck. :)

A ducting pipe hasnt come off under the dash has it ? , my brothers is the same but the dash tray ( not ash tray lol ) gets stupidly warm . Still got to do that .

But after he removed his heater for a new matrix , he adjusted the internal flaps etc so it sealed better internally and now his heater gets Very warm :) .
When i do mine Ill take pics and and walk through for u lot if u want ?

makes a shed load of difference to the amount of time the engine takes to warm up and hence the heater matrix, especially this weather - dunt need to be anything fancy - an old bit of carpet does for me - if you've got a winch wrap some 3ply in foil
