Heater control lights

Recently fitted a 300tdi alternator to my 200tdi disco 1 and discovered my heater control lights worked for the first time since I got it. But then the other day they stopped working again as well as the light on my clock. Checked all the fuses none had blown checked the bulb in the clock and thats fine to
Any ideas would be muchly appreciated as its bugging me now I know it all worked

Pull the heater controll knobs off and remove two screws that hold the front on, remove the front and check the bulb, they are about 20p each
