Heater Air Intake Seal

Now the cold weather is probably over I am having a look at the heater on my 1984 series 3!

I noticed that the sealing ring between the heater/blower/snail and the air intake grill is missing. I cant find it in the parts book but I think that it is part number 347556. The only place that seems to be stocking one is Craddock spares but looking at the picture (see attached) £20 seems a bit steep! Has anyone fabricated one out of anything else?

I pulled mine apart where it was glued and am planning using it as a templet for a new one.
Not sure on what to use either. Maybe some high density foam?

Easy make one from high density foam. It just needs to fit snug to the snail.

Does anyone know the diameter of the pipework that goes from the fan unit t the heater matrix? (Part # 346999)

Agreed on making the seal yourself, its just a rectangle of foam rolled up in a cone and glued together at the ends.

as this thread previously mentioned this part(intake grill for the heater), does anyone know its diameter?
given it a google and can't find anything.

previous own has cut a hole in the wing(shown in the attached picture), and i'm hoping this might be a nice fix.
