In this freezing weather I've found that my heated seats on my 2001 P38 do actually work (a bit). I didnt think they did but in these extremes it is noticable.

As I say its noticable - not warm. Is there anything I can do to make them warmer - they are the coldest "working" heated seats I have come accross.

Thanks,
Steve

Nah,
Thats for soft Jocks - I'm not cold, I just like things to work right!
Aye maybe;) But you said ''in this freezing weather''... what freezing weather?!!?..

40 degrees - Californians shiver uncontrollably.
People in Scotland sunbathe.

35 degrees - Italian cars won't start.
People in Scotland drive with the windows down.

20 degrees - Floridians wear coats, gloves, and wool hats.
People in Scotland throw on a T-shirt.

15 degrees - Californians begin to evacuate the state.
People in Scotland go swimming in the sea.

0 degrees - New York landlords turn the heat on.
People in Scotland have a last barby before it gets cold.

Minus 10 degrees - People in Miami are extinct.
People in Scotland lick flagpoles.

Minus 20 degrees - Californians all now live in Mexico.
People in Scotland throw on a light jacket.

Minus 80 degrees - Polar bears begin to evacuate the Artic.
Scottish Boy Scouts postpone winter survival exercise until it gets cold enough.

Minus 100 degrees - Santa Claus abandons the North Pole.
People in Scotland wear a vest and pull down their ear flaps.

Minus 173 degrees - Ethyl alcohol freezes.
People in Scotland are angry 'cos they can't thaw their whisky kegs.

Minus 297 degrees - Microbial life starts to grind to a halt.
Scottish cows complain of farmers with cold hands.

Minus 460 degrees - ALL atomic motion stops.
People in Scotland start saying " A bit hill billy ... eh? "

:p:p:p:D

sounds like a damaged element to me .........
P 38 heated seats have a definite life time and regularily give up the ghost.

Fix is pretty easy, but needs a good afternoon ........ strip the seat down and check continuity of the element all the way through ...... should be easy enough to find with a multi meter ...... soldering iron is all you need.

no...if it warms up at all its the thermostate..either replace with one already mentioned,or as i did, move it to front of seat away from all the elements, so that way dont get all the heat..mine are now very toasty indeed..

Hi steve,i had the same prob with mine. Its a 2001 as well, turned out that the seats were not working at all and so had them changed.Yes you will know when they work, they do get warm(both of mine had gone). However the one's in a P38 do not get as hot as in a LR3 range rover..But i think your range needs new ones, sometimes they can be mended but???
