Folks..
Question regarding my 2004 L322 4.4 Petrol.

I'm looking to urgently exchange the Headlight Unit on my L322.

I've found two replacements cheaper than a new one but one is from a 2002 3.0D model and the other from a 2005..

Please could you advise me whether either or both will fit my 2004 V8 Petrol.

Many thanks,

James.

should be ok as long as they are the square ones with the hole for the wiper arm ,and if yours are bi xenons then make sure they are.

the 2002 will fit fine right up to the 55 reg L322 (pre - facelift models)

the two different shaped lights are distinctive from each other

Birchy.. you star man..:)

Thanks for the reply... They are both bi-xenon the same as mine and they both have the hole for the wiper arm.. so that's good new.

Is there any difference in the model years or did Land Rover use the same unit over this period..??

Thanks,

James.

Between 2002 and 2005 they used the Chuckie headlights. In 2006 they came out with the facelift where the unit changed shape. As long as they are Chuckies, they'll fit.

good old chuckies :D

just out of interest why are you changing it

Birchy,

I had a problem with my front off side and my local independent has changed all the 'changeables' for new to keep the cost down but I was advised if the dipped light failed again, it would necessitate a new headlight unit but 'it would cost me loads'...

Its failed again, so I will be needing a new headlight but looking across the web, they're £600+ new, so I'm sourcing a second hand one..

Am I doing wrong...??

Define Changables???

And where the lamps blown?? as it could just be a dicky Xenon Ballast unit!

You could swap the Ballast from the working side to the non-working side and put the non-working side to the working side and see if the fault moves with the ballast...if it does - Ballast is bust....if it doesn't it is either the Lamp or the wiring to the ballast!

for the lights to work there are 3 bits xenon ecu on back of headlight ,xenon striker inside the headlight and the bulb if you don't know where that is well !!.

Birchy,

It was the ballast pack and bulb they changed...

The other night the bulb flickered like crazy on the way home from work, which I've had in the past. I stopped the car, engine running, turned the lights off, paused and then turned them back on.. The bulb didn't come back on and still won't...
What do reckon...??? New unit..??

James.

if the bulb flickered it could be a connection issue with the wires from the striker unit or the striker unit it self inside the headlight ,when he changed the ballast did he give you the old one ?

Birchy,
No they didn't give me the unit... Is that a wooops..???

Is there anything I can do on this unit to check the connections... i.e. push home all the existing connections or have I blown that..???

James.
