Headlight issue

That is possible for me, though its been flawless since I had the 110 (over 2 years) and the past year driving daily. I'll check makes sense as to why I lost highbeam too momentarily

When I say it turned out to be, that was because I had the fuse box out, headlights out, voltage drop test you name it. I then removed the spots and at the end of tether I bridged the horn, man beam stalk and the damn things lit up indicating the stalk failure.

You can strip the stalk, reset the tension on the spring, clean the contacts and reassemble, they are designed to be maintained.

Still ongoing.

Lights have been fine for a few days until just now. Switched them on just after start up heard a high pitched buzz from behind the dash and no headlights. But do have side lights.

Im guessing a relay must have gone

Oh really? That would make sense. What is the buzzing?

The stalk is 14 years old now and flicked on and off 30 odd times a day in winter.

I did look at it last weekend looked alright no burning or damaged contacts.

Wheel off is easy enough.

@bankz5152 After reading the thread again, I’m not sure which direction to head in. A buzzing indicates a relay is on its way out, but the intermittent loss of all lights suggest a power supply, or earth, common to all headlight functions, which can only really be the headlight switch.

The dim/dip relay is only used when on sidelights, as far as I know.

I would also do as @Hicap phill sugests and remove the dim/dip resistor from the circuit. It can’t do any harm if you isolate the connector with tape or heat shrink.

What other functions do you loose when they go off? Dash lights? Radio? Interior light?

So after reading a few threads (inc the one linked above) this morning i managed to fix it.

There was a burnt out relay in the main fusebox! Changed it and all fixed. :D

The dim dip relay appears to work.

When it happened i just lost dipped beam. Had all other lights. Side, interior, highbeam all work fine

Hopefully this is the end of this drama! How can so many things go wrong with my headlights in such a short period!

Any headlight issues will surely get thrown your way now!;)

Out if interest, which relay was it?
