It seems a few threads have popped up relating headlight issues, probably caused by the dim/dip relay/wiring circuit and the fitting of LED headlights.
It’s worth noting this early in the thread that a ready made relay exists for this. Part number YWZ10003L the only problem is the almost £30 price tag they put on it! My mind was made, modify my own!
I stripped mine and soldered a shorting link in across the sidelight trigger function.
Photos are quite self explanatory.
Locate relay behind dash binnacle.
Prise open the top cover from the bottom contacts. Use a small flat blade screwdriver in these tabs.
Once open, you need to carefully remove the circuit board and associated bits. Take care here and do not damage the pins. I didn’t have a photo of this bit, but here is one with the shorting link installed.
Now for the shorting link. I used a piece of 2.5mm multi stranded wire. Around 2.5” to 3” long. If you hold your relay so it’s in the same orientation as my photo, it’s the pin on the furthest left, to the pin on the furthest right (middle row of connectors).
Solder the joints. If yours is anything like mine was, the contacts will need cleaning, and may need fluxing, prior to soldering.
Once soldered, rebuild and test!
