Hi all, first time owner and poster so hope you can help!

My 2003 freelander has fully working indicators but the hazards don't work! The switch lights up as does the dashlight but they don't blink. The 15 amp fuse will blow if i replace it so should i
A) Replace the switch
or
B)Replace the relay ( If there is one and where is it)

They also dont blink when i lock or unlock the car

Thanks in advance

I can't answer your question, but I can point you to the Rave workshop manual for Freelander...

https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/rave-disk-maintenance-manual.260227/

Make sure you download the manual for the later Freelander - ie the one for the TD4/1.8/2.5 not the early DI/1.8.

This has full wiring diagrams and should show which components are in the circuit for the hazards and alarm warnings. I imagine those 2 functions are performed by the security computer (referred to as the CCU).

That's an interesting fault. The indicators are controlled by a couple of separate circuits. The CCU links into the indicators wiring, effectively driving them independently of the hazards or direction signal. The only places where they all meet is at the fuse box. The flasher unit also has a ground connection, so that's where I'd be looking first.

the fuse blows when i turn on the hazzards so to me points at a switch problem so for the sake of £5 on ebay that's where i'm starting. if not i'll replace the relay, after that it can go to a garage sod it
