Hi all, my first thread! After the run around by Proppa I ordered a PSI Powerbox for my 2001 P38 from Paddock Spares (with fitting instructions). Of course the box arrived with zero instructions and having trawled the web I must ask for help??

Thank you!

get back in touch with paddocks and explain the situation.if no luck get back to me.;)

assuming the box is a new 'digital' style one it will most likely have 2 arge circular plugs and 2 small rectangular ones.

If this is the case then the large circular one is for the fuel injection pump. Look at the LH (passenger) side of the engine, find the fuel injection pump. Is underneath the inlet manifold and will have silver pipes coming out of it. On the side of this will be a black rectangle with a thick wire coming out of it. Follow the wire with your hand and you will feel (note the word FEEL - it's difficult to see and if you haven't accessed the plug before then it might be a good idea to remove the plastic housing that covers the top of the engine so that you have a rough view of what you are doing) the circular plug you need to get to. It's a twist-lock style plug. Turn the collar of the anti-clockwise to release it and then plug it into the relevant plug on the powerbox loom. Now plug the new circular plug on the powerbox loom back into where the FIP was originally plugged in.

The small rectangular plugs are for the manifold pressure sensor on the top of the fuel filter head assembly. Same affair again with the connections, unplug the plug from the sensor, plug into new loom, insert plug from new powerbox loom onto the sensor - done.

Hope this helps.

I dont know if you can help but I bought a PSI powerbox and installed following your instructions as it didnt come with the full fitting instructions. But the green LED wont light up i have driven it but no difference so I guess its not working. I have checked all the connections and they are fine. Any ideas?

can you show us a pic of the unit and all the connections and pipes etc.then we can get a better idea of the unit you have as i believe there are two different types of psi box for the early and later engines.

Thanks for the reply

Here is the unit.

sounds plausible I am going to return it. can anyone suggest somewhere in kent to get it remapped or is there a garage I can go to to buy one and make sure it works?

I was just gonna spend the money on something else but after a very slow overtake  I thought the extra power would be nice.

Thanks for not giving a newbie a hard time!

Gemsdad,
I bought a 2000 2.5 dhse. with the power box in the engine. The guy diconected it for the MOT emissions he said. however I want to connect it again but I looked at the photo above mine only has the little black wire which is still connected to a small square connection. the only other lead I have is a male and female twist lock wire but that is. would you know were i can get the instalation guide.

Regards
