I am at a loss. I have in the last 3 years had issues with leaking steering box. In 2018 and brand new box was fitted. 15mth in it leaked. Repaired under warranty by landrover and 25 month old it failed again. Naturally landrover washed their hands of it!!!!!! Grrrrr

In Nov 20 bought recon box from National power steering via paddock spares. Installed on 15 Dec 20 leaked again aft 1200 miles by late Jan 21. NPS sent replacement box which was installed on 23 Feb and on Monday 29 march noticed box is leaking again!

Is there anything else that could be causing this? The vehicle is driven 20 miles a day and has new aux and cambelt. I really don't want to replace again if something else is causing the box seals to blow! NPS have been great and are willing to replace again but I really need to be sure this is not for a month at a time..

The car was an import from fauklands and has only done 76k.

Help help help ... I love my landy but I need her to tow a very large caravan and naturally have concerns as steering is leaking.

Thank you!

Hi brianp38dse

Yeah I wondered if it was the pump after going on loads of forums but I always come back to landyzone as you guys seem to really know about these beasts.

My garage man has come back today to say the pump could be faulty and over pressurizing, is this what you are referring too? I've read also second hand pumps aren't worth the effort and as I really don't want to pay again for anoth box to be fitted, I think it makes sense to replace with new. Any thoughts?

Yes that was my thoughts a faulty pump putting to much pressure to the rack it the only common part to all the new boxes
