all ive done is place my home made aluminium tin lid cut to size to block pipe. i have not touched any wiring etc is this correct.

i can feel the diffrence!

As long as it aint leaking gases out or air in....and you can feel the difference, then its OK

However, the preferred option is a piece of steel around a quarter inch thick and some kind of gasket....depending on the alloy it might not last that well...but then again it might,so let us know how you get on.If you havent taken the EGR out then you wont have to block up the little hose and I cant see that you need to do anything else....but Im sure someone will put me right on that......

What is this EGR? What does it do and what is it that people are stopping it from doing?

EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation and was included in Land Rover diesel engines from about 1995.

Simply speaking it's a piece of rubbish engineering that permits black tar-like substance to be introduced into the inlet system and can partially block the inlet manifold - it's not big and it's definitely NOT clever, so just junk it !!!!
