Has the bloke in Halfords got it wrong??

Plus Halfords is open late and on Sundays which most motor factors aren't.

Seconded...

I dont like Halfrauds, but use them on occasion, because if I'm on a full week at work, I start before the motorfactors opens, and finish after they are shut, same reason I don't use my local landy parts guy as much as I would like to, and use the internet for parts & shopping more.

As for bikes, in my local halfrauds, it really does depend on who you speak to. Got my bike new form em, and I love it, after 3 months, pumping up the tyre, walked away, and the inner tube exploded and wrecked the tyre with it, I was expecting to have to argue it was faulty, but nope, they changed it FOC no hassle, pleasantly surprised..

Same sort of experience over here. I over abused a small spanner from there professional range I bought in UK 7 years ago, took it in a branch over here for to chance my arm and he exchanged it on the spot with know receipt. He said don't need receipt as obviously bought from them. Also brought back a failed battery but a bit pi##ed off as they said they had to send it away to be checked. Lucky had spare battery but they changed it all the same.

I'm not in the trade and I only use a proper motor factors where possible. Not that I rely on their expertise, I just prefer to give my money to independent retailers who deserve it as opposed to some huge chain that's staffed by total muppets. The local place I go to near my work has always been top notch and I can get limited parts from them same day if need be too. Ask halfords for an oil filter and the kids bottom lip starts quivering in fear. Useless twunts

Yes but you obviously know of them and their reputation, Im talking about people that dont.
Having been supplied the wrong part many many times from many different motor factors, I can assure you they also have their fair share of muppets.
Bit like I avoid builders merchants as nothings priced up so how do you know if you are getting a decent deal or not?
The few times I have used a builders merchant I have later come across the same product same price or cheaper.

Mrs. FL has a V70, and you need the wrists of a gibbon to fit the low beam bulb, which blows about once per year, as it's on whenever driving, or another wrist joint just above the first:mad:
It's worth a few quid to hand the job over to a halfords chimp, they usually manage with a struggle:D

It's totally unfair to refer to any motor factor or Halfords staff as muppets and chimps, any parts person is only as good as his/her training and no one, and I mean no one can be fully conversant with every make and model.
A part you require is obtained by entering your vehicle details into a computer parts program, the computer spits out the part number of the bit you need, and it's very often wrong, the part number issued by the computer is the only information the parts person has to work on.
I've been in the motor trade for a long time and over the last ten years or so getting the right parts has become a bloody nightmare, especially for frog cars.
