Just bought a harman kardon subwoofer/amp from ebay which I would like to fit to my 04 Freelander. It fits in the rear cubby hole but I dont seem to have a connector in the area, there is one grey connector but it does not fit the connector on the subwoofer assembly.

Does anybody know kow I can wire this in to my existing head unit and what might the existing grey connector be for.

I've got ( had ) a HK subwoofer assembley in the rear well .It's currently out drying off !!!!
I'd strongly suggest that you avoid fitting it in there especially if you have an ingress ( posh word for Freelander leak around the tailgate ) of water in there.
I've just bought a replacement male / female plug assembley for the wiring loom as the original had corroded at the contacts.
I'll photo the wires with colour codes if they are of use .
There is a 12v feed but as yet I haven't found the fuse or source for it.
The rear door speakers seem to be disconnected and the wiring for them extended to the subwoofer although the tweeters are still operational.
Was it expensive ?

Are you using the stock head unit? An idea might be to take up the carpet and line it underneath with some pvc to stop water? Or... take out the carpet from the well altogether and Dynamat it for better sound quality.

Personally depending on your head unit, i'd disregard the current wiring and fit fresh as aftermarket cable is probably superior to the existing. If you're spending the money on the sub unit and amp, you may as wel go the extra mile for improved cabling.
