Disco 1 Hard to describe...

As Its hard to describe I wasn't sure what to search for so I'll explain it here... Sounds like a stone being rattles around in a box and it's coming from the front of the engine near the fan somewhere but I can't locate it properly as it's only making a noise with the engine running. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I have heard it before on a coach with a fan at the front. We took it all apart and found nothing. When we put it all back together the sound was gone! So never did find out what the issue was.

A silly one, but have you tried removing the fan and running the engine? for clarification is it a 300tdi or a 200tdi.
