Hand brake sticking on

Hi all

I am loving my disco 1, it's running spot on and I have ventured down some green lanes enjoying every minute of it.

The only question I have is that the handbrake sticks on when the truck is parked overnight. It's releases when I pull away with some resistance then is fine all day.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Or better still, remove the rear prop from the brake drum, and remove brake drum, remove the brake shoes and then dismantle, clean and apply grease to the mechanism on the back plate. Then reassemble.

Or just replace it with an X-brake

or, lift the gaiter to the handbrake adjuster, then keep dripping oil down the cable,
done this over 2 days while I waited for a new cable to arrive.
had a quick look underneath and saw crapppy muck oozing out the end of the cable with the oil draining through, so while i was under i hooked a length of spring betweenthe cable end and a convieient hole in the chassis,
that was untill i got time to change the cable.
2 or more weeks later the handbrake works fine still, releases as it should,
new cable still in packet waiting for a hot sunny day to swop it over....

oh, its had some more drips of oil working its way through still... its now - nice !!

strip it as above post, oil the cable as in the other post, then leave it in gear and with a brick under the wheel.....
