Hi all,
without starting a slanging match or raves about tractor universal oil, could somebody please answer this subject?

I'm going to order some oil for work from our bulk supplier (shell stockist) and will be able to "tack on" a couple of drums of stuff for myself ;) ;) ;) but as its a once every couple of years chance, i have to get it right first time or the sh1t will hit the fan

I have a 94-98 300tdi D1 manual, i want to get the engine oil and maybe the gearbox & diff stuff too.

Specs i have are:-

EP80w90 for the axles & tranfer box.
15w40 DT semi synth for the engine.

Now, supposing they have it, should i get ATF or MTF for the box?? Its currently on ATF but some do say i should put her on MTF, this is where most of the arguments start.

Any advice would be much appreciated, i have searched but there is so much contention on this matter, it didnt help this time.

Thanks
Dave

Ok, as a follow up i have the details from my supplier...

Engine - Shell Rimula R3X 15w40 http://www.shell.com/static/global/downloads/brochures/product_flyer_rimula_r3_x_ch4_dh1.pdf @ £2.07 / Ltr

Transfer & Diffs - Shell Spirax G 80w90 - http://www.epc.shell.com/Docs/GPCDOC_X_cbe_24855_key_140002164997_89B.pdf @ £2.64 / Ltr

Gearbox - Shell SF oil 5288 - http://www.epc.shell.com/Docs/GPCDOC_X_cbe_30452_key_140002032774_C0CF.pdf @ £3.95 / Ltr

The MTF equiv. of SF5288 bothered me a little as it states its 75w80 GL4 but i checked and MTF is also 75w80 GL4. All come in 20ltr drums.

Sounds ok???
