Hi All,

So, the latest classic was yanked out of a field after 2 years of sitting there, I attached jump leads and it fired roughly into life, excellent..... So I fitted the new radiator and head lights, went to start it and it just turns over!!!! I have spark, checked fuel upto the cold start and it was okay, other side of the cold start nothing, is this normal?

Thanks in advance

Jack

before you start ripping it apart try fitting a new fuel filter and putting fresh fuel in the tank as it sounds like what's in there is stale.

Whilst you have spark is it a nice big fat juicy blue one??

If not try a new coil and ignition amp as this send a pulse to the ecu to tell it the engine is running and to supply fuel via the injectors.

My 3.9 had this issue so you may be lucky.

See how you get on with the other suggestions but it has been known that if the engine doesn't catch straight away the plugs become soaked and it then won't start. It might be worth popping the plugs out, make sure they are dry and clean. I would also suggest slackening off the dizzy clamp so that if it still doesn't start you can advance it up a bit - I've done this many times in the past and seems to work on a reluctant starter. Just make sure you mark where the dizzy is before you advance the timing.

Hi All,
It's finally alive again, took the plugs out, gave them a clean up and up she fired :) no one with the rest of the restoration, thanks. just bought another classic too, for a daily drive. hopefully I'll actually keep it this time! :)
