grinding noise

Hi can anyone help ? I have a grinding noise coming from the front drivers wheel .sounded like brake pad was stuck on slightly but sounded matalic. it has just started and only appears for a minute or so ,goes off when i dabbed the brakes a couple of times . brake pads look low so going to change tomorrow.

sounds like you might have a stuck caliper, or piston, causing uneven pad wear, only way to tell is wheels off and have a good look, you can get small stones trapped , which gives similar grinding noises,

rich,,dont forget to use some copperslip or graphite based grease on the caliper sliding surfaces and the backs of the padds, it stops them seizing and squeeling and make sure that them sliding pins are free(the ones the retaining bolts screw into ) i had one seized a while back
