Although we have a few more important matters, we've started thinking about the interior... Outside it's painted Oslo Blue, inside Lightstone leather with blue piping. All fine so far, until you get to the "wood" trim.

It's green, which we were told was "rare and desirable". It may be rare, but I'm not sure it "goes" with the blue. And it's also fading in places - not sure it comes out in the photos, but either end of the dash strips are very faded.

I quite like the "burr maple", but that's also rare, I believe?

So I guess the options are:

a) Collect all the walnut parts to replace the green bits, decide if the steering wheel (etc) would be over-wooding it and swap it all over.

b) Find an aftermarket kit which looks as good (or better?) than the factory bits, and fit that.

Suggestions welcome!

Rich

oh - and before I forget, does anyone know what the green is called? I've seen it called "green marble" on ebay but can't spot any reference in the online parts books.

Thanks!

You're right, the Maple is in rocking horse territory.

As for 'after-market kits' the only ones I've seen are the stick on covers and I've yet to see a good one, even if they're fitted well.

Your best bet is to find one of the guys who makes the walnut stuff by painting the walnut effect onto black parts. You'll find them by checking ebay for items like internal lights and alarm pods in walnut. These were never done by Land Rover so these must be painted items. Try and do a deal as you're going to need a lot of bits and you want them all from one supplier to match the colour.

Shame about the maple, I think it looks quite nice!

I think I'll start keeping an eye out for "standard" burr walnut bits on ebay/etc and when we have a replacement for the green bits, swap them. I don't think we'll bother with lights/alarm bits/etc as that could get overkill!

A lightstone (or leather+walnut) steering wheel would be nice, but the only one I saw was nearly a grand for a "new" part), so that can wait :)

Can I assume yours is a 2002 Vogue SE ??

Paraphrased and edited from the James Taylor book 'Range Rover - The Second Generation'.......

The 2002 Vogue SE was based on the standard Vogue model (Trim Level 4) and the 4.6 Engine. Built to compete with the 4.4 X5 and to pre-empt the upcoming MB ML500.

300 examples built which came in Alveston Red, Epsom Green, Java Black and Oslo Blue, bumpers and sills coded to match body colour., all had fog lamps and 18" Comet alloys and the Vogue SE Tailgate badge.

All had Lightstone leather and piping to match the exterior colour choice, carpets also matched the exterior colour except the Java Black which had lightstone colour carpets. The gear knob gaiter and hand brake gaiter where also Lightstone on all models

Steering wheel is plain ash grey with all exterior colours. (Original plan was to have duo-tone wheel covering to match exterior colour but this was dropped at the last minute)

Wood trim was unique to the Vogue SE being Burr Walnut with highlights in Green, Grand Black, Prussian Blue or Rowanberry Red to match the exterior colour.

Additional Equipment included TrafficMaster monitor system and 17 speaker ICE, of the 300 built 50 had the Twin Wide-Screen TVs in the headrests and a DVD system, plus Privacy Glass to the rear of the B posts. Original Vogue SE cost £53,995 and the DVD version £57,995

Build Breakdown....

Alvestone Red SE = 35 SE&DVD = 7 Total 42
Epsom Green SE = 63 SE&DVD = 13 Total 76
Java Black SE = 60 SE&DVD = 12 Total 72
Oslo Blue SE = 92 SE&DVD = 18 Total 110
Totals SE = 250 SE&DVD 50

.................................

So your green trim I think is not correct for your exterior colour and also even if yours was the Epsom Green exterior, it only stipulates 'Highlights in green' what these highlights are I am not sure...will research further.

That's brilliant! Thanks - and yes, it's a 2002 Vogue SE. I wonder how it ended up with green trim... There's no sign of any walnut anywhere currently!

I might have to buy the book....

+1, definately an '02 Vogue SE. I have one in Epsom Green. I've seen a few Oslo Blue models for sale with the same green trim although the green trim on supplied with the blue models is different from the Epsom Green models.

You have to wonder why they bothered! :) :)

I guess, trying to spec up as high as possible to move the last few P38's at a time the new L322 was launched.
They also recycled some features, eg. The 17 speaker custom sound system is leftovers from the '01 Westminster. This system is pretty good, even for a 12 year old system, certainly as good as the Logic 7 system i had in the D3.
I've yet to see any additions to this wood finish though (steering wheel etc), too rare i guess.

So it looks like the gear knob is covered in leather. My steering wheel is half leather half brown wood.

Yep, lightstone leather gearknob & handbrake lever with chrome buttons as standard. Your steering wheel has probably been swapped. I want one for mine if i could find the same wood finish as mine but doubt there were ever any made.
