Green Oval Garage Leeds

I own a Land Rover Discover Sport 2015 model. Shocked to find out the vehicle broke down on the motorway without prior warning. Is that a Land rover thing?

Any way Green Oval Garage in Leeds recommended changing the turbo and clean the DPF for £2400. Is that a reasonable price, I don't know but they are a Land rover specialist so I trusted them. They also promised 2 years warranty on labour and materials.

They came later and said after opening the engine they found more damages so it would cost another £1100 for oil spills in the engine. I was gullable so I said fine.

After the repairs, they said they done testing and found the engine doesn't work so I need to pay £1800 plus vat to strip the engine and I may need to purchase an engine for £12000.

At no point was I informed that the that such significant works would be required after the initial works. As the matter of fact I got an email which said the car will be ready next week. It changes now. I refuse to pay the extra so they want me to pay £3,600 for a faulty car. I deposited £2000 already.

Am I stupid, or is Green Oval Garage a dodgy garage that is incompetent...

Welcome.
I don't believe any vehicle I have ever had has given me advance warning that it was going to break down. Of all the useless, new fangled gadgets on cars these days, that would be an amazingly useful one.

Sounds like they have done you over but there's two side to a story. The diagnosis at the beginning was wrong.

Vehicles don't warn you they're going to break down. They just do it. There are sometimes signs it's going to happen like smoke coming out from under the bonnet.

Did you get it fixed in the end?
