Green laning Stroud ish area.

Just to resurrect an old thread...

A post has been put on FB today warning about someone having put a lot of screws and nails on some of the quieter unclassified and unsurfaced roads and tracks near Stroud. In particular, the UCR from Bisley to Edgeworth has been targeted in what appears to be an attempt to target Greenlaners. Last week, lanes in Miserden and Througham have also been affected.

I received the below from our local GLASS rep,yesterday...

An issue has been brought to my attention that really needs urgent action from GLASS members.


I have been informed that an application has been made to Gloucestershire County Council for a Definitive Map Modification Order (DMMO) for a UCR near Bisley (Stroud) which is known as Daws Lane. The TW2 UID is SO8806-01.


The application is to downgrade it to restricted byway.

Reference number for the application is 573/11/29(17). This was lodged on 14/12/21 and there is only a 6 week window for objections to be lodged.

I might be being cynical but I cant help but think the application went in at that time to try and slip it in under the Christmas radar!

TIME IS RUNNING OUT FAST!


We need to get as many objections submitted to get this application rejected.


Please submit your application to Glos CC as soon as possible. Anyone who needs guidance on how to do that please email me pronto.


You can state in your objection that a) it is a multi user route including 4 wheel motor vehicles, b) it has been used by motorised user unchallenged for considerable time c) it is named as a “lane” which is defined as a narrow road and should fall within the normal accepted meaning of “a road” ie for use by all groups of users including motorised.


Please take action urgently to prevent the loss of this good little UCR.

I finally managed to email my objection in this morning. I also emphasised that downgrading the lane would prohibit access to those who are unable to walk, cycle or ride horses and as such would be discriminatory.
