Scotland,
Hi guys and girls
Friend has asked , on behalf of a friend of his, if I know of any Veterans who might go green-laning in Scarborough area? After explaining anyone who drives an LR is as big a masochist, and nut, as most military types, he then said "well anyone then, who wouldn't mind joining up with the guy to go green-laning".
Only details I have is the area-ish, he's an injured Veteran, and to add insult to injury it's a Freelander. Oh and he has joined GLAS.

TIA

+1 very frowned upon now due to the amount of imbeciles who understood Green Laning to be mud plugging and bog snorkling.

Please leave green lanes to walkers, runners and horse-riders. If you want to drive on a rough broken surface, try the A66.

No need to answer in that manner. By all accounts the lad is trying to do things in the proper manner. He has joined GLAS, asked for experienced help.
As for the A66 it's a bit far for me. However, I can green lane any time I like on my track home, and walkers, runners and horse riders have no right of access!

Does that mean that GLAS is defunct? If no-one can help the lad , I might as well feed it back to my firend, to tell him.

On the glass site they have routes form other members. A lot of green lane clubs are on Facebook & organise small guided tours.
If you look on the link there are many clubs which may be suitable. (Scroll through there will be plenty of relevant clubs)

And before any bobble hats appear and say don’t off road (Legally) how else can I take my wheelchair friend to see the country side?

Thanks :) I'll pass it on.

As well, every area/county has a Glass rep. Has he gotten in touch with his? they usually tend to do days out and can put in touch with people that do go out.

If it wasn't for a lot of peeps in LRs going down green lanes and making them viable, walkers, runners, horseriders and others who like to discriminate against responsible users of green lanes wouldn't be using them at all. Plus how else can the disabled get to share the sights from them that able bodied can?
Get off your high horse.

Simple answer: no idea. I'll get middle man to ask him. I'm working on the premise he has reached a stage in his recovery where he has reached out, within the safety of his community. One of the guys has then reached out to me, as I am part of that community, and have a 4x4. Unfortunately, neither of us are anywhere near him.
I think he may only recently have joined GLAS. He has also recently joined 4x4 response.
I asked on here, as there is a green lane forum and, normally, our members are quite good at helping people. I've told my mate to get lad to join LZ, but no sign of him yet.

Thanks for all help given so far folks.

Definitely not! If you use green lanes responsibly, there’s no reason not to continue to do so. They can be shared with other user groups. By stopping using them, other user groups who wish to see us banned will have won.

If people abuse them and treat then as a free for all, then they get shut down.
If people don't drive them, then they eventually get impassable and/or get reclassified.
Enough have been closed already, let's not give them an excuse to close more.
On that note i need to find some in reach that aren't too scratchy!! I think the wayfarer is ok and some great views

Thanks. When you say 'my area', do you mean the lad's , which is Scarborough? Or mine, which is a stepping stone on the way to Canada :D

Neither :D. I’m at the bottom of the Yorkshire Dales. I do lane in the Scarborough area sometimes, along with a lot of my mates from our Facebook groups.

If he wants to contact me or join our FB groups just let me know.

Thanks so much. I will speak to middle man in New Year. :D
