Green box behind instrument cluster

Can anyone tell what is the purpose on the green box behind the instrumnet cluster there are two plugs that go to it the part number is anr 6438 . I came across it when changing a bulb on my instrument panel . Its a 2001 defender 110 td5 , thanks

it is a as10. it controls the alarm and central locking

i dont have central locking and an alarm but they do have some blank bulkheads on the harness so i guess it was installed and not used thanks alot

It's your 10AS immobiliser unit. Fitted but not used, the ECU under the seat gets a code from it to allow the engine to start. Your interior lights are also connected to it. It is this that lets your interior lights stay on after you shut the door.

ooooeeeerrrr flux messing about with one of them things. I'd maybe end up in a time when I had hair, teeth and no gut.
