Tax is on engine size not wheelbase size and there is a lot more space in the back of a 110 compared to a 90

oh and welcome to the landyzone

hmmm ok then, is this because on the 3door the drivers seat doesnt go bak? or just because defenders arnt made for tall people?
im 6"3 so need the leg room.
this is mind would it be better to buy a 110 5door and take the rear seats out?
cheers for the reply/s

i'm taller than you had have no trouble fitting in - you could get a set of mud runners and remove the bulkhead if you needed more legroom

but then you'd be signing up to a medical forum asking how to grow longer arms

i settled on a discovery commercial, front leg room not a problem, loads of space in the back, wide floor space.., no rear boxes or benches like i saw in a 110 van,(my orig choice) just the wheel arches to contend with when loading.
And for me a more affordable option(around the £2,000 mark for a '98 300 tdi, seen cheaper0 great first time entry level LR i think.

haha, hmm it seems the only way im going to be able to made my mind up is by looking for myself! the biggest problem being i have no transport to be able to view transport! will have to be nice to the girlfriend!

i'm 6'2" and have raised the seat frames by about two n arf inch and that made all the difference.you can either use 2x2 timber or use tube all yu need is longer bolts to go from the seat frames to the seatbox!its easy and a lot cheaper!

ahh ok cheers jimbot will remember that. glad there have been other ideas dont think i could take the flak of my mates if i had a range!(no offense meant :p )

Can I just ask why you want a 3 door? My 110 is a 5dr CSW, and if I need MORE room than is in the already large back, the middle row of seats fold up..

i own a sound system and we do partys and festivals in all sorts of places mostly woods and out of the way locations. this means we need some 1 to take generators and other equipment but also its good to have a place to crash out even wen the partys still going on! so the space it can offer is next to none unless i get a van. but transits are so last decade!!!

It's a mission and the side boxes only cover the wheels (Due to the rear doors been in the way.) If you don't need a people carrier, stick with a 3door. you'll also get more for your money with a 3 door.

oki doki the other option if i cant find a 3 door is taking the back seats out for good and convertinig it to a van, covering back windows ect....
the main problem im facing is the fact i only have £1000 to spend. would have more but insurence is quite alot for me (21, student, had previous accidents :bump: )
