If Freelanders are so bad how come the last camel Trophy that LR funded it was won with Freelanders?

I had a V6 Calibra and when the cam sensor failed it just died and wouldn't run, later found the plug had come adrift!!

Look. . . all motors have there own faults and little niggles but the idea behind this forum is to help if you've had a problem or know the fix then pass it on, or to ask for help [or not that iwould, go fishin] as for freelanders ok big problems with 1.8s , td4 s have niggles v6 not so many problems. . . but on the whole and lets face it, very classy motor, and if you wanna travel in the outy back place [don't get ya freelander dirty] get one them tractor type [old type l/r] and don't forget ya hammer, tights ,hip flask, rhino gun, pile cream, no need for sun oil as grease on dem motors is bout highest factor known to man, so be it. . .Ming

I agree totally with you on that one ming.

I just wanted perspective owners who are looking for buying advice and reliabillity records that the Freelanders is up there with other Land Rovers (now). Ok the early ones had a lot to be desired for but most of these flaws have been designed/replaced/rebuilt by now.

I just wanted to see a list of good things about Freelander ownership.

ok, you can take the back off if you have a three door, great fun in the summer and nice and cool... especially if you are in the outback of the new forest like I was this summer

o alright then the bloody 3 series is better if you want to got in australian outback are ya happy now:D :D :p but the likely hood of me travelling to australia is somewhat slim, so off roading in wiltshire dorset and hampshire is the closest im gonna get!

I love my freeby i dont go do some serious off roading and i dont want to.
i live in cornwall with lots of narrow roads and farm dirt tracks / greenlanes, its cheap to run, cheap to TAX, dose everything i want it to do and more! and,
it looks good while its doing it!
it never lets me down and my wife can drive it (she couldnt dirve our disco) he he........
so dont knock our freelanders enjoy them (afterall YOU got one)

Ayup joey. . . .too reet mate ,un its bin proven that the gaylander is an apt orft road machine [the hamster mirrow report] he rates it orft road gave a standard freelander a real test and it came out smiling, ok its not tractor class i admit, but it a lot better, than its given credit for, and leaves all its rivals slitty's trailin [snort] un porky likes joey. . . . . .and it'll be good in the outy back place. . . .[big snigger]. . . . .:) :) :)

Dont need ta tell me ive ad mine in some rough and wiv standards its done better than disco's, ok that rear bit is a no no but that traction controll is not a gimmick it really doe's the biz . . . . .:) :) :)

All we ever seem to get is the bad points being mentioned on our cars.

This isn't always the case because i want us all to list the good points.

There must be loads of them.

The best thing about Freelanders in my opinion is that you can go off road and still drive a car on the highway at the same time.

Who's next?

I went out and brought a 7ft xmas tree yesterday..........put it in the boot of the FL..........had the rear windscreen down and it was fine.............couldn't do that with another car :)
