All we ever seem to get is the bad points being mentioned on our cars.

This isn't always the case because i want us all to list the good points.

There must be loads of them.

The best thing about Freelanders in my opinion is that you can go off road and still drive a car on the highway at the same time.

Who's next?

Its not looking good m8.
coulden't resist that one. i'll get back to to the other forum now shall i. ere yes. SORRY.

ere! umm! have you got a split personality or summin?? now are the roads around you really bad? or have you just got very long limbs? or is one of the vehicles remote control? or do you count driving on the pavement as off road? cos then you could have two wheels on the road and two wheels off road
good points are ..i can fix my series three with a screw driver,a hammer and some insulting tape. if the electrics don't work ..kick them! if it wont start hit it with the hammer

Good points for the Freelander? Um? They look quite pretty in Blue!

To be honest they're not my cup of tea but the seemed to do ok in the last Camel trophy.

They are very good off road I can keep up with the best of them on road tyres! followed a series 2 all through the salisbury green lanes. I also had soft comfy seats a fantastic stereo hardly any noise it was like doing it in a comfy chair! my mate had to go to the chiropractors afterwards! 1970's technology against 1990's technology - NO CONTEST- also I drove it home at a 100mph! he barely made it past 60......

also they a small and economical fast and nimble and do everything thats asked of them for a fraction of the cost of a dfender /disco / RR, which are huge in comparison. I could never fit any of those in my garage and personally the only contender on the fourwheel drive catagory would be the RR, but.. for the spec I have and mileage and condition it would be double the price.... you cant beat them in my eyes for all roundness granted they are not for most people but thats why we are all different, wouldnt life be boring otherwise. Ps how many people take their main family car off road seriously like competitions and such... not many.. most just keep them on the drives and do the school run , so the freelander is perfect for it

At last i'm not on my own.

But isn't the Freelander the biggest selling Land Rover EVER????

yeah you kept up with a ser11 on a green lane!! what about in some serious ****. just for the record i was held up on a green lane by a disco once, and i was in an escort estate.
so if the nut behind the wheel can't use his equipment he might as well get a mountain bike..
and if yer out in the back of beyond , say ' the ozzie outback' which one do you think you could repair easiest??

Before this got thread-jacked, i was not trying to make out that Freelanders are the best off-road, i just wanted other users to see that although they may not have the best reliability reputation there are still lots of positive points to owning one.

thread jacked wot do that mean?? i thought forums was for discussion and in the real world discussions tend to wander about abit. you could start talking about darts and end uptalking about freelanders doing the school run. but as i don't have a freelander i might as well **** off.
cheery mismash

do you seriously think the freelander has out sold the series 111??? jings you can find the series landies on every continent. think of all the armies that used them and the wild life peeps that used them. the columbia drug runners ( before the range rover came along). african safrai dudes. i don't think yer right about the freelander being the mostest selling landy ever.

do you really need sales figures?? as landrover themselves say the defender is just another of their original model, albeit with some improvments made to it.and the freelander is an completely different vehicle, so you have 50 odd years of sales against 8 years of sales.. so its not hard to figure out..

Defender
First manufactured back in 1948, the history of this unique vehicle reveals a remarkable consistency of engineering vision, from the earliest models right through to today´s Defender, over 55 years later.
Learn more about the Defender heritage

Launched in 1997, Freelander showed once again that new Land Rover products always redefine their sector of the market. It launched Land Rover into a new area of the 4x4 leisure market and expanded the brand´s appeal well beyond traditional 4x4 buyers.

and of course the freelander has much more competition today....

like i said i find it hard to believe that wot you said is true

the series landrover are of course good no-one is denying that, however, lets not blind ourselves in the bygone era where everything is rosy and good, all things evolve and become better some people just live in the past. I think if I was in the outback I would have a freelander or rangie or new disco, cars a million times more reliable than the old engines and technology, anyone who thinks otherwise are just kidding themselves, modern engines are constantly tuning themselves, no pinking or cars out of tune, if a componant fails the car still keeps going on BACK UP SYSTEMS limp home mode, mmmmm would I like to take a series 2 2000miles in the outback or a FREELANDER durgh! :p
