Hi,

this is Lars. I am currently on assignment in KSA and bought myself a 1998 Discovery 3.9i with 90000 miles on the clock to do some desert expeditions. So planning to lift the car and maybe add a bigger tank, etc. The car runs fine, other than the odd drop of oil from the transfer case.

regards

L.

Morning Lars,

Is that a D1 or D2?

Cheers
Thanks. IT is a D1, three door, seems to be basic trim, no fancy things like ABS or Airbags. Fuel consumption is horrible. 9 mpg with a light foot. I assume there are issues with the ECU. Hope to find somebody on here who can give me a few hints to locate the issue. :)

Sounds very nice, pop over to the Disco section and I am sure someone will give you a heads up. Hopefully being in the Sand will mean it does not suffer from the D1 killer , rust in the bodywork.

Cheers

almost no rust. the previous owner kept it the last 11 years in the garage. so even the sun did not do too much damage. Its fun to drive, a bit like a tractor. Thanks to it being a manual, driving will never be boring as there is a lot of shifting to be done.

Welcome:)

Before you disappear into the desert makes sure it’s in tip top shape.
And 9mpg:eek: I thought my beast was bad.
That needs looking at as to why, but help on here available:)

Enjoy it like it sounds like you want too:)
