me glow plug light started not coming on a couple of days ago but intermittently, sometimes it did. Now seems to have stopped coming on at all. Pardon my stupidity but does this likely mean that there's a problem with the plugs...or that me bulb's gone? Car starts ok but it's not cold so I guess it would anyway. Cheers

The light can't indicate a fault with the plugs. All it can indicate is a fault with the relay, the wiring from the relay or the light itself, since it is driven from an indicator circuit on the relay. Put a meter on the glow plugs and see if you have voltage at the plugs. If you have and the lights not on, you have an indication fault. If not, then look at the relay or the power supply to it.
300 TDi doesn't need the glowplugs anyway unless it's really cold.

many thanks :)

It'll never get cold enough to need your glowplugs there mate:D:D

The easiest way I know of for checking the glowplugs is to whip one out, connect the wiring and place the tip on the block. Get someone to turn them on and watch them glow(plug) red !!

Hehe hopefully you're right there but I've still got 3 days here in blighty and the temperature up here in geordieland's plummeting! :D

Funnily enough, used the car about half a dozen times yesterday and the light is now working as normal, maybe it was just in a bit of a huff :p

Dunno much about glow plugs, when you say "connect the wiring", what's that about then? Dunno much about diesel engines at all really! Learning a lot since we got our disco though. Nothing much gets past me now. Can't find the spark plugs anywhere mind.........
