Hi Guys,

I'm in a bit of a pickle here.
I have purchased a Defender Wolf 110 LHD and had it shipped to my rural house in Slovakia thinking I could register it there with the purple military release D-DISC-O form.
However that is not possible and I need the V5 to do that. Is there a way to get a V5 somehow for the vehicle that Wolf that's already in Slovakia and I only have the MOD release form?

It will be a great help if you can advice on this.

Warm regards Michal

Not if it’s never been registered with the DVLA and I doubt they will register it now it’s out of the country.

It won’t have been registered with the DVLA as mod vehicles aren’t (the vast majority anyway - like fighting vehicles like wolf land rovers etc) registered in that way, until they are sold off into private owners.
The mod release form is the form the DVLA use to register the vehicle and issue an age appropriate number plate.

Mia there not a process in Slovakia for registering vehicles for the first time?

Could you not register the vehicle in the UK with DVLA [they do not need to know the vehicle is not in the UK/provide a family UK address], then some while later complete DVLA exportation part of V5...this should satisfy the Slovak administration.

You're welcome to use my home address...of course, there's a £5000 admin' fee :D

Not in Slovakia. They don't like foreign vehicles :(
So the issue is I did not do the MOT in UK so can I send of my release form to DVLA without MOT to get the V5?

Many Thanks

no, you have to insure it (in the UK) I n the chassis number then MOT it on the chassis number, then send the kit certificate and the v55 form off to the DVLA for a registration to be issued. They won’t issue a reg without a valid mot and insurance. Soon as it’s registered you have to tax it immediately on the new ref or declare it SORN

Yes, DVLA can issue a V5 without an MOT. Q? how long have you had the Landy/since it was decommissioned?

not what they told me when I registered mine, they made me MOT it on the chassis number. Then register.

atleast I think that’s the order I did it in, it was ten years ago!!!

Hi @flat , I didn't think the MOT had to be completed before registering a vehicle. Normally one can register a vehicle with paper V5c or online. I guess the difference here is that @MichalH has bought a decommissioned military LR that's yet to be road registered...but, I can't see any difference + have just taken a look at the DVLA website and can't find any ref' to having to MOT before registering. The first page does state to register using a V62 if the vehicle has no/has yet to be registered.

>>Vehicle does not have a registration certificate
DVLA advises that you should not buy a vehicle that does not have a registration certificate (V5C).

Register the vehicle in your name by using form V62 ‘Application for a vehicle registration certificate’. You’ll have to pay a fee. See the section above for how to get form V62.

Contact DVLA if you do not receive anything 6 weeks after sending in form V62<<
