Genuine Landrover front brake pads

I fitted ferrodo pads on my 200tdi Defender, they lasted 6000 miles before detaching from the metal backing. It’s one brand I’d certainly avoid in future. All you people who say fit OEM, all that means is at one time they made parts for LR, but not necessarily the part your looking for.
Personally I bought genuine disks and pads for my D3 from a main dealer who advertise on eBay for £100 an axle including delivery

The trouble is, these days, there are so many fakes of everything that you may think you are buying a quality item cheap but you're really paying a lot for total crap. The Chinese fakers make really good looking packaging..

Hi mate

I quite fancy fitting some Delphi discs and pads on my D3 , heard good reports and also finding out Delphi are made by lockheed

Seen quite a few fit the drilled / slotted discs but heard mixed reports , never really been keen because of that , especially for off road as risk of dirt etc catching in the calipers ??

I looked at a lot of the aftermarket discs and pads, but the price was similar or more than the genuine items from main dealer selling on eBay. Another reason for going genuine for me is a lot of cheap brakes squeal. Thought about putting Brembo’s on as I have 19” wheels but then my off road wheels wouldn’t fit, so standard for me and it stops good in a straight line.

Speaking with advanced motor factors they tell me indeed Ferodo were the genuine pads , Delphi and textar are both oem

Also wondered about the V8 upgrade but have 17s so cant do it but prefer having the bigger sidewall, think there 235/75/17

Believe discs should be genuine because of issues otherwise with brake judder

Know what u mean ref pricing , can easily compare the genuine and oem but will fit genuine discs because of the issues

Funny enough I use ceramic grease on the back of pads instead of coppaslip

Must admit it stops well enough , have u tried applying the EPB yet done the motorway , know some have tried it out but I’m not brave enough, lol

Thks

Whilst on a test drive of another D3 I was encouraged to apply the emergency brake, it activates all the brakes not just the handbrake, stops quick

Indeed , I didn’t realise that at first until I read further about it, suppose to be very impressive how it stops a lot quicker

Thanks for your sensible reply, I have googled and ebayed etc and found a couple of supliers, its more fun winding the dickheads up on here. But really was it such a big thing to ask if anyone knows a supplier of genuine pads. And I did not ask for or need advice on other brands, I know there are cheaper alternatives and good and bad products but I only want original, its as simple as that, why does that upset some small minded people on here. but as you can tell schools have broken up so the idiots are out in force on here. I could understand if I had asked for advice and ignored it but I did not ask or want any advice on this matter just for suppliers.
You post in a forum but don't expect replies?
You ask for and get advice and then complain?
You want OE but don't want want to pay OE prices?
Guess where the problem is here.

No idea!

Tell me ;)
Read my first post then take your foot out of your mouth.
I did not ask for advice, I asked if anyone knows of a supplier of "genuine landrover" pads not OE pads,
I did not have a problem and replied politely to those who replied simply to say thanks but I only want genuine landrover pads. You and others seen to take issue with that and started to twist things and show your true nasty colours WHY. I do not care what parts you use why do you have an issue with me using landrover parts. Why have you jumped on the band wagon and shown how stupid you are.

You can't insist on only wanting to fit genuine LR parts whilst also insisting you are not willing to pay LR prices and you're only talking about a £100 set of pads, no hope for you when something expensive pops! You sir want your cake and to eat it!

I am not sure genuine disks are necessary. I agree with you about the pads and fit genuine to mine, but as long as it is running true a brake disc is a brake disc. Although mine are not vented so are just chunks of solid metal, I do not know if the same holds true for a vented disc..

I have to disagree with this strongly, brake discs vary tremendously and the cheap foreign imports made of toffee steel can be lethal. They wear very quickly and can warp withing days of fitting them. To me the disc is the more important part of the pad/disc combo and if I had to choose between the two I would fit cheap pads before fitting cheap discs.

I'm interested to what you think OEM means and how that's different to "landrover" parts

You obviously bid not read my posts, I asked if there were any suppliers who sold them cheaper than main dealer, not a unreasonable thing to do as I am sure you look for things you are going to buy to get the best deals, I also said if there is little in it I would go to main dealer or see if they could offer discount to come closer to the price I also said I dont want any other make and would buy genuine parts regardless even at main dealer prices, I cant understand your attitude at all. Would you slag people off who use car buying companies like carwow etc to by a new car cheaper instead of a dealership, you are talking rubbish. A load of fuss over an innocent request.
I do agree with you about quality parts like brake discs though, lots of cheap chinese steel discs around that are utter rubbish.
