Guys! Gals!

I thinks I may be lost in the land of transfer box woes... I've taken the transfer box out because it was jumping out of drive. It's on the bench in too many bits. There is no visible damage!!! It all seems ok!!! I'm lost/stuck/scunnered/worried!!
Any ideas or suggestions? It's a 2a 1971, swb. 2.25diesel. It ran beautiful if left in 4wd, but in 2wd on the road it popped out of drive.. not out of gear, but the high - low lever.
Any ideas??

The other common fault is the red lever bracket fastened on wrong side of bell housing casing should be at the rear side with lever pivot in front.
If the selector bolt was loose on the shaft that will not help.
Have you got the whole transfer case in bits or just the front output part removed?
