The freelander I bought last month supposedly had a new gearbox fitted in February. the gearbox works but I am really suprised at the revs to speed ratio. in 5th the revs for 70mph are 3500-3750 this seems really high to me for what is essentially a normal cruising speed. As a consquence I am up and down the gearbox like a whores draws and it seems to be drinking diesel (doing some tests now).
There is no evidence of clutch slip and it pulls all the way up teh revs. Could the wrong gearbox be installed or the right one installed incorrectly? or are these revs normal for the XDI?
Any Help much appreaciated.
