As title really, I want to change the gearbox fluid on Buttercup, 5 speed lt77 gearbox (1988).
I have searched this site and the wider internet and am having trouble getting what I think I should be using.
There is a long post on here somewhere that I found very informative, this suggested using a fully synthetic MT75d which I started looking for but can't find any for sale anywhere, I suspect it has been superceeded by a more modern flavour, but I don't know what.
I did then decide to buy the super expensive stuff off Difflock only to find it wont ship to France. Now I don't mind paying top dollar for the right (best !) stuff, but I just don't know enough about the subject to make a sensible decision, especially as there seems to be loads of options made with trade names I just don't recognise, that's not to say they wont do the job.
Any recommendations?

Atf dexron 2 you need 2.6 ltrs, mind clean the filter, I use comma mineral.
To fill mine I put a tube through the tunnel from inside & stick a funnel into the tube
only takes 2 mins instead of lying underneath squeezing the bottles. :)

As Kev says use atf
I tried the posh synthetic oil in the lt77 and it did not go well, though the same syn oil transforms the r380.

As others, ATF is the best bet BUT, I'm sure I've seen Ashcrofts or somewhere similar saying that the best fluid to put in is whatever is in there already, unless you plan to do a proper flush to get the remnants of the old stuff out.

I'm soon to be replacing the oils in our Ninety's Lt77 so this has reminded me to order atf:cool:

Rich.

Dont forget two drain points, one is drain plug and other is filter, dont be alarmed if theres crap on the filter as thats normal.
