Has anyone any info on removing the gearbox from a disco 2 td5 my clutch thrust bearing has started to squeal and I was wondering if its much of a job ie does the engine have to come out or can it be removed with engine in place? any info would be greatly appreciated:)

easiest way with no ramp is with engine crane through passenger door holding gearbox through removed tunnel cover ,with drivers side jacked up to allow wheels to rotate and give room ,the long stud securing t/box to gearbox is good place to sling from, crane will allow you to drop transmission enough to undo top bolts on bell housing before undoing rest ,cross member bolts often snap but retained nut on bracket chisels off easy

thanks for your help and advice I do have a mate with some ramps so I could drive it up and put the rear axle on stands should manage like that didnt know the tunnel was removable so thanks for that. That should make it a bit easyer I HOPE.
