Broke down yesterday and when I put it in drive it's making the most awful noise !
Like it can't get into drive and making a scraping whining noise ??
Can't drive it at all but engine starts no problem ?

Help
 
What model year is it? If it’s pre-’06 presumably it’s had the Q041 front spline/differential upgrade?

Sorry new to all of this .It's 2003 134k mileage v8 petrol .
Does it sound expensive ? Thanks for the replies
 
Put it onto its highest suspension setting. While you’re looking underneath (safely, from the side) get someone to engage drive with their foot on the brake and look to see if the front propshaft is turning while the vehicle is stationary. If it rotates, the propshaft spline has failed and the updated front propshaft/final drive design has not been fitted to your vehicle.

hi thanks for the pictures , my step dad knows his stuff and had a look underneath and yes i have the old one ,the first picture of which he said yes thats where the horrible noise is coming from ! but he then said hes not sure yet if he needs to take the box its connected too (he didnt say box ,i just cant remember what he said ) ?
do you know if its a big job and a pain in the arse to do ? and the big question how much are the parts ??????

Think it should have been done on a recall check that out before you spend any money.

Ant,LR done mine this time last year for freeeee the geza's needs to search my post on this and there is a contact number and name John lake I think from LR he should be able to sort it out for him :).
