I have a problem with a friends discovery 2 TD5, the gearstick was very sloppy. I searched on here to see what it could be and started investigating.
On removing the centre console and sound deadening etc, I found the bias plate to be cracked and the vertical tab bent to one side. I thought while I was there, I should take the top off the gearbox and check that everything else was in place.
As soon as I lifted the lid, the ball off the end of the gearstick dropped into the gearbox, not good! I managed to retrieve it with no problems, but it is not as smooth as I had expected.

The yoke bush is badly worn and had been put in from the top of the yoke? Pretty certain it should be fitted from the bottom of the yoke whilst yoke is out of the box, If im wrong I stand corrected.

I think it has been dropped in from the top because whoever done the job last time, rounded the 5mm hex in the grub screw and were unable to remove the yoke.

Can anyone tell me how the yoke should be on the bottom side of it, as it feels like the edge has been rounded off by the ball on gearstick.

And finally can anyone point me in the right direction to a website that I can buy all the required parts from?

Thanks for any advice and for also reading this long winded thread. Lol

nylon socket goes up from bottom and has clip on the top ,if you hit either side around grub screw it will loosen it ,failing that which usually works ,use heat to break loctite

hope this helps
