gearbox is whining

hi all!! me disco gearbox is whining when accelerating!! its goin into gear ok there a abit of a clunk when you get in second sometimes!! please if you know wots up help!!

How true this is but I am told the synchromesh goes out of align on disco gearboxes it is a common problem especially on second gear and reverse , which mine did about 8 months ago second gear always grinds a bit if I don’t change gear fairly quickly from 1 to second, reverse is a fikin pain in the arse. The gear box whines at high speed at some point I will drag the box out and give it a tap with a sledge hammer.

synchro hubs dont go out of line the triangled shaped dog teeth on baulk ring wear ,replacing baulk rings cures the fault ,its been a weakness of r380 boxes, on reverse gear it self its own dog teeth wear to in the same way .luckily usually the only gear that does ,most boxes need new rev gear too, whine can be gear wear which can go on a long time or worse bearing wear which needs looking at asap

dam...i 've only just put the gearbox back in aswell :mad2: the clutch fork went on it :Cry: that was a 3 day job!!
