Gearbox Crossmember

@border I found a liberal helping of grease on the mating surfaces along with a few wacks from the hammer helped position the crossmember. I did dent the round section, but it had already been damaged offroad in any case.
Nothing better than using copious amounts of grease and the judiciious use of Applied Hammerology for precision adjustments.
Apart from which, the grease helps to prevent oxydisation between the laminates of steel once the crossmember has been finally bolted into position.
Pity about the beers, though :(:(
 
The holes did line up perfect so its fitted. Got one of these from Aldi in photo, never used one before but it worked perfect on rethreading the bottom holes, waiting to get new clutch in and engine and box back together then lifted on to chassis.

I knew it would be ok.

I would be very careful with the tap and die set. I bought a “cheap” set from screwfix only for the M6 fine die. It didn’t cut the silver steel I was trying to thread and went blunt instantly. That kit should be ok for cleaning the galv out though.
