So I thought my rumbling was vcu bearing, only it was still rumbling with vcu and prop off! Local Indy says gearbox bearing? Needs new gearbox! This is on a 55 plate td4 with 57k ! I'm gutted. Now I need to find a decent gearbox cheap in Yorkshire!
Turns out its got a recon ird, landrover spares uk empty vcu and **** bearings too! Great

just a thought but if someone has went through the trouble of replacing the ird and fitting a non working vcu it could be posable that the ird came from the same cowboys as the vcu ? Meaning mabe its the ird thats the problem. Pritty sure the ird would go before the box but i could be wrong. Hope u get to the bottom of it mate

That's what I thought. No receipts for ird.? But lIndy landy place says its a new looking ird. ( case is shotblasted and sprayed)

Submitted before finishing (doh. ) the local place (lrs in hull) , said that the ird is good but the bearing in the gearbox is goosed making the graunching rumbling noise. They have gone over the car front to back and driven it too.

Sorry you are having a ****e time with it and trust you will get there. Few on here agree with me but I think they are a much happier car in mondo. LR building in differing ratios front to back to make it drive more like a fwd causes plenty of grief.
