Hi there guys I've done a search but can't find anything. This morning I couldn't get gears in my automatic td5. Got rac out and the linkage at the gear stick had snapped.i think it's the plastic washer type part that's snapped. Any ideas what I need to buy to fix it. Currently using pliers to get it in and out of gear. Thanks in advance guys

The ball end is ok and cable is ok I think as I'm able to move the lever with the small ball on it by hand or pliers to engage gears . It's were the ball slots into the lever mechanism

broken at the gear box end as well ?that would be unsual

No it's just broken on the O part that the ball fits into of the throttle lever that goes up and down to engage gears. See the photo in the opening post. Gearbox works fine. Just need arms like a prime Geoff capes to engage gears lol.

i can see cable is out of its lever ,for that to go normally a stiff cable or broken support is the cause but its possible you just need a new retainer from the dealers

Yeah that's snapped. My local Indy reckons he's never known one go there before in all years he's been working on them.

Hi Mike I'm not clear what it the problem here: on the one hand you appear to say that you can grip the ball with pliers and select gears but on the other hand state that the cable is snapped?

The two statements seem to conflict as, if you can select gears, the cable can't be snapped, surely?

sorry dave the cable is fine. It's the lever as you can in photo above. Sorry for confusion pal.

Have you tried putting the nylon insert back in with the cable and seeing if it simple popped out cant tell from the pic how the nylon part is bust . Might be the cables getting stiff ? And thats why it bust .

Thanks for your advice once again vanmancan. I'm not mechanically minded as you can tell but I've been out to it and that nylon washer clicked over the ball then clicked into the half moon and it's working. The nylon washer is in a bad way though any ideas of the part number for that ? Thanks once again . Rac man didn't even know this he said it was broken.

As said by others it's prob a part that comes with the hole gear shifter :-/ . If it pops out again might be worth showing it to a main dealer . Could well be a single part from another landy. Just try to be a little more gentle on the shifter . Any luck might not pop out again .

Thanks chap. It's holding together for now. I'm gona nip up see my local Indy see if he can get me a nylon washer or if he as got one knocking about.
